Do Stuff

Everyone has a role to play in building a better and safer culture around alcohol.  There is a LOT you can do – these suggestions are just a start.

1. Make it easier for people to make healthy choices.

  • Diversify the ways you and your friends unwind.  Don’t let alcohol become your only signal for “now it’s time for us to have fun.”  Check out some ideas.
  • Never let alcohol become a “necessary” part of an event, even tacitly – i.e., being sober or sober-ish shouldn’t make for a lousy time.   More party planning tips.
  • If you’re serving alcohol, make sure you have equally tasty non-alcoholic drinks too - those who aren’t drinking for any reason, whether their age or their game tomorrow, will thank you.

2. Keep an eye out for people in trouble.

  • Become an expert at tactfully helping your friends slow down.
  • Team up with your friends to check in on each other, and help you all stay within your limits.
  • Know the signs of alcohol poisoning, and be ready to call for help if you see them.
